Renewing Your Massachusetts Hoisting License
Everything You Need to Know to Renew Your MA Hoisting License Quickly and Easily
Hoisting licenses in Massachusetts must be renewed every 2 years and are eligible for renewal starting 60 days before the expiration date. The Office of Public Safety and Inspections (OPSI) will send a renewal notice to both the email address and mailing address on file 60 days prior to license expiration.
To successfully renew your Massachusetts Hoisting Engineer License, you must submit the following:
A valid form of identification
(Massachusetts driver's license, learner's permit, or MA state ID from the RMV)
Proof of DOT Medical Certificate
Continuing Education Certificates
One for each license restriction (1A, 2A, etc.) being renewed
Photo for your license
Either:
Authorization for OPSI to use your RMV photo
Or a 2x2 inch photo that meets license guidelines
If you’re currently serving, the VALOR Act allows you to keep your hoisting license valid for up to 90 days after discharge.
